Footsteps
I follow in your footsteps,
Through the woods
Wondering who’s been here before,
With you
In the woods
And whose footsteps
Am I really walking in?
Do I really care?
I am here
They are not
I cannot find any reassurance
In that
Though I try hard to.
I give up on thought
And turn to nature
To nurture me.
Through the woods
Wondering who’s been here before,
With you
In the woods
And whose footsteps
Am I really walking in?
Do I really care?
I am here
They are not
I cannot find any reassurance
In that
Though I try hard to.
I give up on thought
And turn to nature
To nurture me.

Very true. Even when we are surrounded by Nature, human nature can get in the way.
This reminds me of something that Mary Oliver might write. Have you read her?

I loved the whole thing, especially the last 2 lines. There's something wondrous about her, isn't there?
